CHIPPING Norton kept up the pressure on Berks/Bucks and Oxon Premier Division leaders Stow-on-the-Wold with a 47-3 home win over basement boys Risborough.

The Cotswold hosts made a strong start with Neill Stannard and Darren Dobruyn making inroads, allowing Tom Goffe to go over the whitewash.

A penalty by Barry Nutt kept the scoreboard ticking over before Risboorugh replied with three points of their own.

However, Chippy responded immediately with three tries in 15 minutes through number eight Matt Dawson (2) and Matt King.

But frustration was starting to set in and the message at half-time from the coaching team was to relax and keep focusing on the basics.

Shannon Dyer grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck with a series of drives and the Chippy off-load game started to click with Geoff Flather crossing the line after a precise backs move.

The wet conditions also made handling tricky but Chippy went over for a further three tries before the end.

A powerful run led to Dawson’s hat-trick and Nutt soon went over after good combinations between backs and forwards.

Dawson concluded the scoring from a charge-down with Nutt converting to make it 10 games unbeaten.
