A SECOND-half hat-trick from Emma Lowe helped secure all three points for Bretforton as they hammered Firebrands thirds 6-1.

Despite going a goal behind, the West Clubs Women’s League North Division leaders enjoyed more possession in the first period.

It did not take long for them to equalise when a fine pass from Sarah Hall off the back-line found Deb Slatter literally diving in to get the all-important contact.

After being all-square at the break, Bretforton knew they had to push on and grab the points.

Their second goal came from a masterful play by centre-back and skipper Kate Mitchell.

Her perfect pass found Julie Hall whose first-time strike gave the in-form goalkeeper from the Bristol side no chance.

Nerves were jangling at 2-1 and it did take Bretforton some time to make sure of the points.

Lowe stepped up for her first goal, nudging the ball behind the goalkeeper only to find a Firebrands stick to deflect it across the line.

Her second goal came when Sarah Hall provided another fine pass to find Lowe perfectly positioned on the back post to push home.

The hat-trick was complete when she struck the ball goalwards from a blistering Daisy Wheeler pass.

Lisa Workman kept the midfield ticking along, while Bretforton defenders Sue Headington and Sarah Cook were rarely worried.

The incisive forays of Liz Murray-White also caused Firebrands all kinds of trouble.

The final goal came from Hayley Whitehouse who ran through the Firebrands defence and picked her spot.

A brilliant display by Lowe saw her gain the player-ofthe- match award but the entire team played well for each other with determination and skill.

Bretforton are four points ahead of Jaspers at the top of the table and head to fourthplaced BAC, who lost 4-0 last weekend at their title rivals, on Saturday.

The Vale side boast a 100 per cent home record from six fixtures, scoring 26 goals in the process.

Meanwhile, the bottom-ofthe- table seconds lost 5-0 at Gloucester fourths in Severn Division Two and the strugglers are still searching for their first victory of the season.
