Shipston U16s

SHIPSTON-on-Stour under 16s conquered tough conditions at Mayo Road to soundly beat rivals Stratford 42-12.

The home forwards drove hard into the opposition and, with quick hands, the backs were released for Henry King to score in the corner.

Robbie Faulkner’s touchline conversion was successful and the Rams continued to push their neighbours back with cross-field kicks.

The forwards continued to move the ball, resulting in number eight Hyde diving over. Stratford countered with a try for the winger and then levelled after half-time with a converted effort.

But then Shipston took over with tries from Faulkner, Taylor, player-of-thematch Alex Hammond and replacement Sam Newman.

The firsts’ game with Earlsdon was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
