THE first Evesham Vale Triathletes junior race of the season took place in bright sunshine at Ragley Hall.

Twenty-five competitors, many racing for the first time and ranging from seven to 15 years old, faced an undulating course on closed roads of two runs and a bike section.

Age-group winners were Martha Cross, Hattie Gill, Hamish Cross, Morgan French, Fin Breach, Laura Snape, Ben Harris and James Thomas.

The hard work put into training showed in the performances and members are now looking forward to an aquathlon next month.

At Tewkesbury, Evesham senior Kate Palfrey achieved a personal best over a 450- metre swim and five-kilometre run.
