Longsdon has mixed fortunes

CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon had a mixed day at Market Rasen after a defeat for his big favourite was offset by two winners.

Spirit Of Shankly boasted odds of 1-6 for the TJS Van & Truck Rental ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle as five ran.

But the five-year-old suffered a nose bleed while finishing second with Gee Hi (4-1) profiting by six lengths.

However, Longsdon and jockey Noel Fehily picked up as Little Chip (6-1) claimed the Harry Hall ‘Happy 80th Birthday’ Handicap Chase.

Topaze Collonges (7-2) took the Double M Handicap Chase by a length.

  • Two favourites lived up to their billing for trainers Jonjo O’Neill and David Bridgwater.

Balinroab (9-2) stormed home by eight lengths for O’Neill at Leicester. Speedy Bruere (6-5) won by two-and -three- quarter lengths Bridgwater at Fontwell.
