TEMPLE Guiting trainer Jonjo O’Neill claimed his first victory of this year’s Cheltenham Festival in surprising circumstances.

Holywell (25-1) broke a frustrating run of second-placed finishes by holding on to beat Captain Sunshine (11-1) by one-and-a-half lengths in the Pertemps Final.

He was steered to victory by Richie McLernon with another O’Neill horse, Shutthefrontdoor (6-1 second-favourite), finishing fourth.

Naunton trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies’ 100-1 shot Changing Times earlier finished superbly for third place in the Jewson Novices’ Chase which opened the third day of the Festival.
