ANOTHER fine Pershore performance saw them grab a clear victory in the latest PGL League round at Redditch.

They secured 31 first places out of the 60 events and were dominant in the relays.

Pershore won the meeting with 175 points ahead of Oldbury (140), Cheltenham (130) and Bromsgrove (116).

The first victory came from the 10 and under 4x25-metre medley relay through James Thomas, Luke Betteridge, William Gearey and Kieran Bennett in one minute 27.25 seconds.

Individual wins followed for Cameron Leach and Emily Burton in the nine years 25m freestyle in 20.54 and the 13 to 14 50m backstroke respectively.

Pershore won the 12 and under 4x25m medley with Owen Leeks, Drew Jones, Michael Evans and Calum Sanderson clocking 1.15.56.

There were also victories for Isobel Woodcock (11 and under 25m freestyle, 17.13), Thomas (10 and under 25m butterfly, 20.70) and Charlotte Downey (10 and under 25m butterfly).

After the first 20 events, Pershore were second before back-to-back wins from the boys’ and girls’ 13 to 14 4x25m medley teams started to claw back the lead from Oldbury.

Leeks, Jones, Evans and Sanderson edged out their rivals in 1.09.08, while Burton, Hannah Kenwright, Lizzie Vizard and Tessa Carr took first place in 1.12.01.

This was followed by successes for Megan Annis (12 and under 50m breaststroke, 48.69), Chris Vizard (11 and under 25m butterfly, 18.48), Bennett (10 and under 25m freestyle, 19.20), Isobel Cumming (10 and under 25m freestyle, 17.57) and Jones (13 to 14 50m breaststroke, 42.69).

After 30 events, Pershore edged into first place and they continued to pile on the pressure with 17 wins from the final 30 events.

Among those successful were Ellen Cope (10 and under 25m backstroke, 21.33), Kenwright (13 to 14 50m freestyle, 33.91), Sanderson (12 and under 50m butterfly, 40.65), Betteridge (10 and under 25m breaststroke, 25.32) and Holly Winkley (10 and under 25m breaststroke, 24.28).

Pershore took first place in the mixed nine-year-old 4x 25m medley relay through Sophie Thomas, Owen Kirby, Hannah Woodcock and Leach in 1.36.88.

The 4x25m freestyle also produced a triumph for Hannah Woodcock, Leach, Anja Du Toit and Leo Rendall- Baker in 1.22.74.

Pershore dominated the 4x25m freestyle relays as the boys’ 13 to 14 team of Josh Lane, Leeks, Jones and Evans prospered in a time of 59.88.

The girls’ 13 to 14 team of Lizzie Vizard, Burton, Kenwright and Carr triumphed in 1.02.95.

Chris Vizard, Sanderson, Lane and William Gearey followed in 1.04.95 in the boys' 12 and under event before Gearey, William Clarke, Josh Sharratt and Chris Vizard did likewise in the 11 and under in 1.03.76.

The 10 and under teams of Bennett, James Thomas, Betteridge and Gearey and Cumming, Downey, Amy Weston and Daisy Tolley won in 1.15.25 and 1.11.97 respectively.

The last two events saw victories for the girls’ and boys’ 10x25m cannon.
