EVESHAM’S Jones Dorling Racing returned to Oulton Park for the National Superstock 1000 Championship’s round eight.
Rider Ashley Beech had made his team debut at the 2.7-mile Cheshire circuit in May on the Kawasaki ZX-10R race bike.
Minor changes to the machine’s settings did not improve handling so they were reverted back and Beech responded by breaking his best lap time by more than 1.5 seconds to line up in 21st place from row six.
However, a wheelie off the starting line cost him just a fraction of a second and, despite negotiating the first few corners successfully, he became involved in a battle with a group of riders for the entire race.
Beech and Andrews battle at Oulton Park Beech eventually got ahead of the group to finish 17th with Evesham’s Simon Andrews four places ahead in 13th for Raf Reserves Racing In Association With Honda.
The next championship round is at Cadwell Park on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
