EVESHAM’S annual captain’s day was held by Geoff Insall to raise funds for a club defibrillator.

Four-man teams competed with the best two scores counting and Les Farrell’s team took the plaudits.

The highlight was a holein- one on the ninth by Peter Wragg despite the pin being placed only just on the green and hidden behind the bunker.

Evesham club members involved are pictured (left to right): Ken Piddington, Graham Pulfer, Ken Brown, John Bomford, club captain Insall, Hugh Homer, Bernard Hardy, Brian Tomkins and Brian Chapman.

On another day, Evesham’s Will James aced his tee shot on the 276-yard, par-four 15th hole for an albatross. It was the 15-handicapper’s first hole-in-one.

Ladies’ member Margaret Williams will not forget the club’s three ball alliance after registering a hole-in-one.

Stratford and Stratford Oaks supplied the winning team of Karen Parrott, Pam Brannan and Cathy Wise ahead of Joan Hunt, Vina Kite and Joan Harvey from Evesham and Droitwich.

Evesham and Harpenden combined for third through Annie Bird, Jennie Marston and Jenny Jones.

The host club’s Williams, Sally Deakin and Lesley Curnock were fourth.

Nearest the line: Harvey (Droitwich), Bird (Evesham); nearest the pin: Iris Corfield (The Herefordshire), Jean Bevan (Evesham).
