EVESHAM-based JD Racing and their rider Ashley Beech endured a torrid penultimate round of the National Superstock 1000 Championship at Silverstone.
Beech, riding a Kawasaki ZX-10R, finished a creditable 15th in practice on his first visit to the Northamptonshire circuit but ended up starting on row eight of the grid after qualifying in 25th.
Despite plenty of work behind the scenes to try and eke out more performance, Beech, who was also suffering with a cold, retired when his gear lever fell off on lap seven.
The final round of the championship is at Brands Hatch on Sunday, October 20.
