PERSHORE men’s firsts lost 4-1 at home to Newtown in Midlands Hockey League West Midlands Division Two.
Despite missing a number of regular players, Pershore went ahead through Karl Lawson but were unable to hold onto the lead.
Newtown soaked up the pressure and continually threatened on the counter attack, scoring four goals.
Pershore showed greater resolve in the second period but were still unable to break down the massed ranks in the opposition defence.
Wednesbury sealed the victory when a deflected shot fell kindly for their attackers.
