Mickleton off the mark with five-star showing

MICKLETON Rangers recorded their first Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One win of the season.

After nine matches yielded just one point, Rangers thrashed Eckington 5-0 thanks to Tye (2), Danny Moore, Hicks and Beasley.

Bear fell to back-to-back defeats as Watts’ double earned Pershore High Old Boys a 2-1 win with Smith replying.

Leaders Pinvin United opened up an eight-point lead as the prolific Mark Bellamy bagged a double against Defford/Besford United, who netted through Kelley.

WMK remain top of Division Two with a 3-2 win over Alderton as Nasser, Deeming and Wiggins scored with Greaves and Stocks replying.

Tewkesbury Town moved second with a 3-1 victory at Tesco United through Jake Petitt (2) and Buckley.

In-form Bredon won 6-1 at AC Olympia as Lee Diamond (3), Hayward, Gibbs and Noble scored.

Offenham Rovers and Stour Excelsior shared six goals. Rovers scored through Burrows, Tustin and Keen with Stour netting through Carr (2) and Seys.

The top two march on in Division Three with leaders Alcester Town taking the honours against Inkberrow 4-1 with goals from Richardson (2), Brant and Parker.

Liam Scrivens hit all four goals for second-placed Fairfield at Dragons, while Broadway United Reserves remain rooted to the bottom following a 7-0 defeat at Ecosamba.

Badsey Recreation moved out of the bottom two with a 4-1 victory at Anchor Harriers thanks to Trotman (2), Pearce and Attwood.

Stratford United top Division Four after a 8-3 win at Fortis through Beese (2), Drake (2), Dixon, Dalloway, Rapson and Ferguson with Dartnell replying twice for the latter side.

Jelfs and Green netted for Bengeworth against Harvington, while Pebworth beat neighbours Vale Wanderers 5-1 via Skinner (2), Grey, Williams and Foster.

Tewkesbury Town Reserves hit seven against Ambi Allsports through Bennett (2), Tarling, Kavanagh, Mace, Harper and Gain.

Doubles from Collins and Major helped Sun Inn win 5-1 at Stour Excelsior Reserves.

Broadway United are the league’s sole survivors in Worcestershire FA County Cup competitions following a fine 4-1 win over an underperforming Bretforton Old Boys.

Also in the Junior Cup, Honeybourne Gate Inn surrendered a two-goal lead to Worcester league side Bell @ Pensax and Evesham WMC lost out on penalties to West Hagley.

In the Minor Cup, Ashton suffered penalty shoot-out heartache at Areley King Reserves, while Ambassador and Evesham United Harriers both suffered narrow defeats.
