BRETFORTON slipped to fourth in West Clubs Women’s League Premier Division ‘2A’ after a 3-1 defeat at Team Bath Buccaneers seconds.

The hosts leapt above Bret in the table after taking an early two-goal lead helped by effective substituting and a youthful squad.

But the visitors remained dogged with Tess Lewinton particularly working hard and Karen Fynn’s aerial balls causing problems.

Daisy Wheeler, Julie Hall and Lisa Workman battled, while Heather Carr and Sarah Cook defended well.

A controversial penalty corner led to Bath’s third goal but Terri Brown’s pace got them in a muddle at the other end.

From the resulting penalty corner, player-of-the-match Deb Slatter scored on the full-time whistle.

Bretforton host Gloucester seconds on Saturday at Evesham High School (10.30 am).

􀁥 Badsey delivered a subdued performance in losing 1-0 at Stourport thirds in Worcestershire Women’s League Division One.

The hosts boasted a youthful squad but the first-half was even.

Badsey defenders Fi Jordan, Karen Moore and player-ofthe- match Rachel Sadler tackled well to protect keeper Rachel Leeming.

Karen Robinson and Lynne Ellarby posed a threat with speed and trickery but could not beat a good keeper.

Kay Amphlett and Laura Moore tried to drive Badsey forward with support from the flanks but a lapse in concentration allowed the hosts to poach a goal midway through the second-half.

􀁥 Ten-man Evesham drew 3-3 with Droitwich in a men’s veterans thriller.

They went ahead after 20 minutes when Andy Osborne tapped in from a goalmouth scramble only for Droitwich to equalise against the run of play five minutes later.

The Vale side’s efforts were rewarded by John Vickery’s fine solo effort but, despite a diving save from goalkeeper James Collins, Droitwich levelled again.

Evesham went ahead for a third time within minutes after a move involving Vickery, Graham Heydon, Jamie Powell and Wayne Betteridge was finished off by Mark Dufty.

But tired Evesham were thwarted two minutes from time when Droitwich’s extra player finally counted.

The seconds lost 5-2 to Droitwich with goals from Jamie Powell and Liam Blondon.

In losing 3-0 at Stourport, Evesham Badgers created chances but conceded two soft goals.
