PERSHORE came away with 10 medals and more than 45 personal bests against tough competition at the Stourbridge Crystal Open in Wolverhampton.

Naomi Marsden grabbed Pershore’s only gold medal in the girls’ 11 to 12 year 50- metre backstroke in 35.54 seconds at the level three meet.

Marsden tops the Worcestershire age-group rankings and should be one of the favourites at March’s county championships.

Chris Vizard grabbed silver in the boys’ 11 to 12 200m breaststroke and butterfly as well as bronzes in the 200m individual medley and backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Patrick Heeks bagged bronzes in the nine to 10 50m freestyle and backstroke.

There were bronzes for Owen Leeks and Jasmine Franks in the boys’ 13 to 14 100m backstroke and girls’ nine to 10 50m breaststroke respectively.

Jack Betteridge was fourth in the boys’ 13 to 14 100m butterfly and 200m breaststroke alongside three pbs.

William Clarke, Charlotte Downey and Tamara Marsden also recorded pbs.

Josh Sharratt, Hannah Simister, Isobel Cumming, Daisy Tolley, Callum Sanderson, Jamie Saunders, Luke Betteridge, Cameron Leach, Olivia Howard, Leo Rendall- Baker, Macey French, Sophie Thomas and Caitlin Yates also swam well.

Pershore head coach Tom Naughton said: “It was pleasing to come away with so many personal bests and it would have been nice to have grabbed a few more podiums.

“However, we secured a few more county qualifying times and will have a record number of swimmers competing in March.”
