THE first week's winners played each other to give an idea of form in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League in Evesham.

Feckenham notched up their second win against fancied Bredon in the battle of the wides, while a low-key, low-scoring match was convincingly claimed by Evesham Casuals, leaving Redditch without a point so far.

Redditch (73-2) lost to Casuals (75-3) with two overs remaining. Playing with a new ball that swung and seamed a little, Redditch, without Greg Chinn, found runs hard to come by.

When Lee Clarke had Jack Roberson caught in the fifth over, Redditch were only on 21, including 10 wides.

Sam Egan (21 not out) joined Scott Walls (21), who was run-out in the 10th with the score on 57.

Finally accruing 73 left Redditch with no room for errors in the field but their bowlers found line even more difficult and gave away 17 wides, taking any pressure off Casuals.

Pete Cross (3) got a faint touch behind off Matt Harrey and sportingly walked before Andrew Stanley (6) was run-out with Evesham on 24-2.

Thereafter, Adrian Witts (15) and Jamie Clarke (26no) carried the game Casuals' way to win with overs and wickets in the bank.

Bredon (108-4) lost to Feckenham (109-1) with an over remaining despite a confident start.

They built an opening partnership of 43 before Tim McVicker (7) wandered out of his ground to be stumped off Andy Kings.

Clive Fenney (25no) notched up his allocation and Kev Wilkins (4) joined Jamie Munro (13) until being caught at mid-on and the latter was run-out.

The final five overs produced 60 runs with contributions from Ali Munro (20), Jamie Diamond (10no) and wides totalling 24.

The total of 108 with the ball still posing control problems looked a little short but this was only Feckenham's second game in the league and their mettle had yet to be tested.

In the event, Josh Stacey (25no) and Ben Adshead (24 retired hurt) produced a start that saw the scoreboard over 60 without loss at the halfway.

After the retirements of Stacey and Adshead, Kings (13) was the only casualty, missing a straight one, and, with Luke Jackson (15) and 29 in wides, Feckenham got over the line with an over to spare.

Next matches, Tuesday (from 8pm): Aston-under-Hill v Prince Henry's; Dumbleton v The Boxmen.
