Pershore win vital clash in dramatic fashion

1:40pm Monday 24th March 2014

PERSHORE Town earned a vital 2-1 victory at basement boys Pelsall Villa in the St Mary's Hospice Midland Combination Premier Division.

But the scoreline could have been more comfortable if fifth-from-bottom Pershore had been less wasteful in front of goal.

The visitors had chances to go in front before finally taking the lead midway through the first-half.

Zac Blood’s through-ball was collected by Louis Bridges, who rounded the keeper before coolly slotting home.

Pershore failed to increase their advantage despite more good chances.

It looked as if they were going to pay late on when keeper Matt Oliver brought down a Pelsall striker and the resulting penalty was buried.

However, in an ill-tempered finale when the hosts were reduced to 10 men, Pershore were awarded an injury-time penalty for a foul on Dane Aldington.

Bridges calmly sent the keeper the wrong way for the win.

Pershore play Ledbury Town on Tuesday night in the Worcester Infirmary Cup.
