TENTH-placed Littleton slipped to an unfortunate 1-0 defeat at home to high-flying Bolehall Swifts in the St Mary's Hospice Midland Combination Premier Division.

The visitors had the wind at their backs in the first-half but play was mainly confined to midfield.

Jamie Clarke broke through on 30 minutes but was thwarted by a good save from the keeper, who then dived to stop Simon Fitter's free-kick.

Jamie Insall had an effort ruled out for offside before Littleton started the second period at full throttle.

But they went behind on 57 minutes when keeper Haydn Whitcombe could only parry a close-range shot after a mistake on the edge of the box.

Littleton pressed with Stuart Hall beating two men before shooting straight at the keeper, while a Will Gayton free-kick was punched clear.

The best move of the game saw Littleton go close 15 minutes from time when Insall's header was well saved from Kyonn Evans' cross after a superb 60-yard Fitter pass.

But the hosts, who visit mid-table Stafford Town on Saturday (3pm), could not break through.
