PERSHORE Swimming Club found the going tough in the Nuneaton League Division One’s first round at Halesowen.
While having to adapt to the 33-metre pool, Pershore achieved 18 podium finishes, including three first places.
They were fifth on 156 points ahead of Northampton ‘B’ (84) but behind City of Coventry (234), Leicester Sharks (216), Bilston (210) and Halesowen (157).
William Gearey won the boys’ 11/u 66m butterfly in 47.93 seconds and added another victory later in the 66m freestyle in 42.19.
The other Pershore success arrived through Lauren Annis in the girls’ nine years 33m freestyle in 24.27.
In the 8x33m mixed age freestyle relay, Pershore could not hang onto fourth position overall after finishing behind Halesowen.

Meanwhile, Vale stars impressed for Ellesmere College Titans in Sheffield as they finished second against larger academies in the COSSC level one premier meet behind Plymouth.
Pershore’s Tazmin Pugh won the girls’ 14/u 200m freestyle in two minutes 07.85 seconds and rose to second in the UK rankings.
She also took the 400m individual medley in 5.06.26 but her best display was in the 200m butterfly, which she won in 2.19.87 to rise to second in the UK.
She has nine qualifying times for the summer’s national championships.
Evesham’s Chloe Golding has made the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and the 200m and 400m individual medley for the British Championships and Trials.
Harry Bamforth clocked a string of personal bests in Sheffield.
