Sweet win for Evesham boss Collicutt at former club

7:17pm Monday 14th April 2014

EVESHAM United secured a comeback victory at Kayte Lane, triumphing 2-1 at Bishops Cleeve in Calor Southern League Division One South and West.

In front of Cleeve’s biggest crowd of the season by a long way of 242, the visitors won with a brace from Lance Smith.

The hosts took the lead after seven minutes through Jacob Morgan.

Evesham enjoyed more possession in the first-half but failed to create any clear-cut chances, although Smith did find the net only to be deemed offside.

The Robins levelled in the 68th minute when Smith nodded in Adam Powell’s free-kick.

On 77 minutes, a Ben Evans corner was forced over the line by Smith for the winner.

Elliot Kennedy missed a good chance towards the end but Evesham held on to record a victory which pleased returning manager Paul Collicutt, who had been at the helm of Cleeve for 10 years.

Evesham: Barnfather; Tambling, Wellon, Sauntson, Wilson; Evans, Jackson (J Smith 90), Powell, Bowen; L Smith, Dovey (Kennedy 56). Subs not used: Hitchman, Palmer.

Attendance: 242.
