DEFENDING champion Wayne Lockey welcomed a new passenger with two wins from four races in the British Motorcycle Racing Club Formula Two Championship opening round.

The Moreton-in-Marsh sidecar driver, now partnered by Leeds' Mark Sayers, shrugged off a lack of pre-season testing due to financial constraints.

Four laps into practice, the Real Racing duo set the best time for pole position.

Lockey and Sayers won the first race by eight seconds and managed fifth in the second contest.

They triumphed again in the third race but had to settle for second in the finale ahead of the next round at Snetterton this weekend.
