EVESHAM United manager Paul Collicutt has challenged his players to stake a claim to play in next month's Worcestershire FA Senior Cup final.

Although the Robins have long since had nothing but pride to play for in Calor Southern League Division One South and West, taking their foot off the gas in tomorrow's league finale against cellar-dwellars Guildford City (3pm) is not an option.

They take on Redditch United in the county cup final on Tuesday, May 6, and Collicutt will base his selection on the match at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.

He said: "What we are trying to drum into them is we need them to be performing because we will be picking our side for the cup final on how they play.

"There is something on the game and I would like to finish on a high rather than a low."

Striker Lance Smith is a doubt after suffering blisters playing on Merthyr's 3G pitch in Easter Monday's 1-0 defeat in Wales, while attacking midfielder Marcus Jackson faces a fitness test on a hamstring injury.

Evesham are also looking to bounce back from the defeat at promotion-chasing Merthyr and last Saturday's 3-2 home reverse against Paulton Rovers.
