CHIPPING Norton racer Andy Carpenter enjoyed a hard-fought second place in the ACU National Endurance Championship at Lincolnshire’s Cadwell Park.
Carpenter and Team Go Racing Developments colleague Greg Allsop, of Hungerford, battled with Team Prime Factors’ Stefan Capella and Mike Brown over three hours.
They finished a mere 12 seconds behind and now lead the championship, while their outfit earned the title of best pit crew.
Carpenter said: “Capella and I left the pits at the same time from a swift changeover.
“However, due to fuel pump issues on my Kawasaki ZX10R, I could not match Capella’s pace on the straights.
“Although pleased with the result, it left me a little frustrated, however, we have come away with enough points to put us in the lead for the championship.”
This weekend, the team travel to Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, for the third round of the championship.
