BOURTON Roadrunners scooped a host of prizes at the Angels 10km race in Ashleworth, near Tewkesbury.

Dennis Walmsley finished fourth on the challenging, technical course as his time of 35 minutes 57 seconds earned him 15th place in the British veterans over 50s rankings.

Bourton’s Shona Crombie-Hicks was the women’s winner in 38.07 and Ewen Smith flew around the course for second man over 45 in 38.24.

Darren Long finished in 39.21, Tony Goodwill 43.13 for first man over 55, John Gibson 44.28 for first man over 60, Brian Hulcup 46.27 for second man over 60, Chris Dry 47.11, Jan Short 50.35 for first woman over 55, Liz Hulcup 51.42 for third woman over 60 and Lynn Hudson 54.21 for third woman over 55.

Another group of road runners were taking part in the Shakespeare Rotary half-marathon and marathon.

In the half-marathon, Maxine Emes finished in one hour 52 minutes 38 seconds and Ed Rozier in 2.05.01.

David Turnbull paced his debut marathon perfectly to run 3.56.53.

Claire Harrison kept Susan Hunt company as they finished in 4.02.27 and 4.02.28 respectively, while Julia Kelly clocked 4.20.18.

Ian and Niamh Shoemark headed to the Highworth five-mile race where they registered times of 32.12 and 34.59 respectively.

Anyone interested in starting to run can head to a beginners’ group from Bourton Leisure Centre.
