TALENTED Dumbleton all-rounder Danielle Gibson has made the England girls' under 15s cricket development programme at just 13 years of age.
She is one of the youngest picked for the Twenty20 and 40-over series of matches later this month after shining at a talent ID day at Loughborough.
Gibson is in a 39-strong squad for the five-day event at Wellington College, Berkshire, and said: “I am so happy to have the chance to be involved. I was hoping to get in but it was a really nice surprise when I found out.
"When I went to Loughborough for the talent ID day I was a bit nervous at first but, once I got to know the players and coaches, I felt OK. I am just really pleased I managed to impress them enough to get selected.”
She is in the Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) emerging player programme. A right-arm seam bowler and aggressive top-order batter, Gibson marked her call-up with a maiden hundred of 107 off just 60 balls and four wickets to help the county under 13s beat Devon.
GCB head of performance Tim Hancock said: “Danielle has an aggressive approach to her cricket and hits the ball extremely hard — for a girl or boy of her age — and she has made big technical improvements to her game in the last 12 months."
