EVESHAM Golf Club's Oliver Farrell secured a prestigious clean sweep of three trophies at the Midland Youths Championship.

The 17-year-old claimed the open Kymin Cup, the Bob Howell Cup for under 18s and the youth salver for the best player from a Midlands county.

With a three-under par total of 277, Farrell headed a strong field in Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire, by two strokes, beating Sam Done (Kenwick Park), who was second on count-back, and Nick Poppleton (Wath, South Yorkshire).

The Worcestershire player carded rounds of 67, 69, 73 and a final 68.

He had two birdies and two bogies on the front nine but came home with two more birdies and seven straight pars under pressure to maintain his lead.

In the Howell Cup, Farrell (277) and Done (279) were placed first and second respectively with Jordan Boulton (Notts) and Reece Samson (Worksop) following behind on 289.

Farrell had previously followed up his winning form earlier in the summer by claiming The Oak, a Midland Order of Merit event, at Kings Norton with rounds of 71 and 70.

In the county amateur championships at The Worcestershire, Malvern Wells, Farrell dominated 36 holes of individual stroke play.

He shot a 65 in the second round, helping him to win the overall title, youth championship and the GD Carr Cup, which is a world amateur ranking event held over 54 holes including the team event scores.
