KIERAN Sutton strode to victory in Broadway’s Club Championships over two days in glorious sunshine.

He returned a stunning 67 on both days for a total of 134, winning both the gross championship title and the Peter Ward Putter award for best nett.

Richard Tate beat Jamie Andrew on count-back after they fought hard for second with 142 gross.

Meanwhile, 43 Broadway ladies tackled the Golf Foundation Brooch Stableford.

Sue Jones won on 33 points with Chris Moulder and Camilla Haines taking second and third respectively on count-back.

Members raised £100 for the HSBC grassroots charity for young golfers. The ladies have their club championships this week.

Meanwhile, Evesham seniors mixed open was held in warm conditions with Martin Williams and Jean Bevan triumphing.

Second were Peter Belcher and Jenny Masser followed by Evesham club-mates Brian and Sally Rogers.

Bob Griffiths (Bewdley Pines) and Angela Fletcher (Evesham) were fourth on count-back, while £164 was raised for the captain’s charity for multiple sclerosis.

Evesham seniors hosted Lillybrook and gained revenge for a defeat in June by winning 4½-1½.

Neil Croft and Geoff Burton won 2&1, Ian Facer and Steve Deakin one-up, Bill Dobie and Peter Gilbert 5&4 and Matthew Lloyd and Doug Sharp 3&2, while Ian Tait and Richard Steel halved and Dave Hartland and Peter Edmunds lost 5&3.

A stableford was held by the ladies and Division One went to Joan Hunt with 34 points ahead of Sally Deakin (34).

Val Lemon won Division Two with 28 and Carolyn Washbourne (27) was second, while Division Three was claimed by Valerie Bomford (33) ahead of Sandi Insall (32).

Seventy-eight The Vale seniors played a stableford qualifier.

Division One went to David Cowell (handicap 13 points 39) in front of John Jarvis (14-39), Eric Salter (13-37) and Rob Sharp (11-34).

The Division Two plaudits were claimed by Barry Sayers (23-45) followed by Derek Tigwell (16-43), John Nutman (18-42) and John Bragg (24-41).

Vale drew 3½-3½ at Cleobury Mortimer with a 5&4 win from Howard Parsons and Jim Elliott.
