MORETON-in-Marsh gained the upper hand in the Cotswold Hills League Division One relegation battle with basement boys Chipping Campden.

They are seven points ahead in third-from-bottom position after a narrow two-wicket win.

Chipping Campden could only make 126 all out but then put pressure on the reply with Moreton staggering home on 127-8 to earn 18 crucial points.

Winchcombe are second in Division Two despite losing by 37 runs at home to struggling Temple Grafton, who posted a challenging 268-8.

Shipston-on-Stour seconds lead the way in Division Three after amassing 317-5 in a 252-run thrashing of bottom-of-the-table Bretforton seconds, who slumped to 65 all out.

Blockley are in the Division Four promotion zone after a convincing nine-wicket win over lowly Henley-in-Arden when successfully chasing down 186-9.

Meanwhile, Stow-on-the-Wold have dropped to third in Cotswold District League Division One after losing at home to new leaders Chedworth.

Max Fisher (45) and skipper Ashley Andrews (35) scored the bulk of Stow’s 101 all out before their visitors cruised home by eight wickets inside 16 overs.

Adlestrop, who are fourth, hammered short-handed Barnsley Beeches by 10 wickets after restricting them to just 36.

NATs won by eight wickets at Poulton seconds, another team who failed to field the full 11 players, by keeping them to 84.
