Hereford II 0, Bretforton II 1 BRETFORTON went into Saturday's match aiming for nothing less than a win and that's exactly what they achieved!

Right from the start, they showed a more competitive spirit than in recent games and found themselves with plenty of space and time on the ball with Bernie Amphlett and Gilly Wright dominating the midfield.

Attackers Kate Williams and Kelsey Smith were making a nuisance of themselves but couldn't quite find the finishing touch.

The only goal of the match arrived after some fast acting from Fiona Lovecy who gathered the ball for Fiona Jordan to take a quick hit out.

She found the unmarked Sarah Bragg on halfway who made a run up the left wing where she was allowed to take the ball into the area before making a clean strike inside the far post.

In the second half Louisa Petta came on as a forward and continued to apply the pressure.

The in-form Sue Shephard had another good game despite playing out of position in defence where she made some good interceptions.

Towards the end of time, Bretforton looked as if they had lost concentration for a while as Hereford enjoyed a better period of play but they passed a test of character with resilience and togetherness that brought three deserved points. The match ball was sponsored by hockey coach Stewart Speake and the team voted Wright as player of the match.

Bretforton travel away again this weekend to face Leominster.

The opening goal came midway through the first half after fine attacking play from Tash Kuiper forced an own goal.

A second followed shortly when Alice Cook played the ball into the D for Emma Gardener to easily slip the ball past the Kings Heath goalkeeper.

The visitors continued to control the pace of the game in the second period and added a third goal when Becky Handy deflected in a pass by Rhian Fuge.

The game was put to bed with ten minutes left on the clock when Evesham created havoc in the opposition box and the ensuing penalty flick was calmly despatched by Kate Fletcher.
