EVESHAM United drew 1-1 at Wimborne Town in Southern League Division One South and West without eight players.

The players were missing through injury, suspension and unavailability but Harry Williams’ debut goal for the Robins earned a point.

United manager Paul Collicott could only name three substitutes and Nathan Jackson was only on the pitch for six minutes before being sent off in the second-half.

Wimborne, unbeaten at home this season, were under the cosh in the first-half and lucky to still be in the game at the break.

Despite a four-hour coach journey, United were first out of the blocks and deservedly took the lead on 18 minutes.

Ashley Edenborough dispossessed Billy Maybury before finding Williams and the youngster, beginning a month’s loan from Cheltenham Town, stroked the ball past keeper Jason Harvell at his near post.

Ian Oliver prevented Wimborne from going further behind with a goal-line block from the impressive Williams, who had rounded Harvell.

Edenborough twice, Marcus Jackson and Sean Wood all tested the overworked Harvell.

But it was out of the blue when Mark Gamble levelled with a close-range finish two minutes before the interval.

The dismissal of Nathan Jackson turned the game in Wimborne's favour but they found keeper Kevin Sawyer in fine form.

He made a string of outstanding saves and some last-ditch defending also ensured United remain undefeated on their travels.

Evesham: Sawyer, M Jackson, Binns, Wilson (Brown 78), Sysum, Wellon, Tambling, Wood, Edenborough, Williams (Harding 71), Stanley (N Jackson 63).
