WORCESTER Wolves are hoping their stunning opening-night victory over Newcastle Eagles will bring their fans out in force for Friday's first match of the new season at the University Arena.
New-look Wolves won 86-81 at the home of the defending champions last Friday to get the 2014-15 campaign off to a flyer.
American centre Robert Thurman was the star of the show with 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Jamal Williams chipped in with 13 points and French forward Remi Dibo 12.
Wolves will be looking to harness the confidence generated when they host Cheshire Phoenix on Friday (7.30pm) and attract the 1,000-plus crowd they regularly pulled in last season.
Director of basketball Paul James said: “We want to defend our own court. We’re looking for a big turnout to support us, and I know the players will feed off that.
"We’ll be looking for another spectacular performance like Friday's, so that we can go 2-0 in the league.”
Leicester Riders and debutants Bristol Flyers top the embryonic table after winning both their matches over the weekend.
Wolves follow up the Cheshire clash with a trip to Manchester Giants on Sunday (6pm).
