EVESHAM and Pershore both recorded home rugby triumphs to boost their title credentials.

Pershore are two points off the top in the of Midlands Three West (South) in third place after a 26-19 home win over Southam.

Evesham are also third, four points off the Midlands Four West (South) summit, following a 15-3 victory against Claverdon.

Pershore visit Upton on Saturday, while Evesham go to Coventrians.

Bredon Star were edged out 25-24 at Kingswood in Gloucester Division One and host leaders Longlevens on Saturday.

Evesham lost 34-25 at Kidderminster Carolians in the North Midlands Colts League, despite a useful display on loaning two players from the hosts to make up a team.

The visitors led 25-22 with 10 minutes to go but tired late on.

Wilf Watson (2) and a loan player scored tries, with Ash Icke kicking two conversions and two penalties, while captain Josh Perry was man-of-the-match for strong tackling.

Evesham under 14s beat Tewkesbury 47-0 and the under 11s faced the same club in four close 12-a-side contests, which resulted in two wins and two defeats.

Player-of-the-match was Olly Wycherley. Evesham under 10s won 5-2 and 6-2 at Tewkesbury on tries.
