EVESHAM and Badsey picked up their first Worcestershire Women’s Hockey League Division One win of the season over fellow strugglers Pershore.

They moved above their Vale rivals to third from bottom in the table, hitting back from two goals down to record a 4-2 derby victory.

In a highly-charged match, Pershore went ahead after continued pressure on their opponents’ goal, with the ball turned over the line by a home player.

Despite chances for both sides, the score remained 1-0 at half-time, with Pershore keeper Cat Pinney excelling.

A strong Evesham and Badsey side came out with a more aggressive approach in the second-half.

But Pershore held strong and broke from their own 22 to set up Emma Gardener, who scored with a great strike from the top of the ‘D’.

However, Evesham and Badsey did not doubt themselves and piled on the pressure to hit back with four goals from strong breaks of play.
