PERSHORE Swimming Club took a big step towards promotion after maintaining their National Arena League West Midlands Division Three 100 per cent record.

But Orion pushed the leaders all the way with 225 points, before the Vale side won round two in Wombourne with 229.

Droitwich were third on 181, followed by Camp Hill (176), Burntwood (142) and Warley (90).

Pershore started strongly in the relays, winning the girls’ 9 to 11 years 4x50-metre freestyle in two minutes 13.12 seconds, the boys’ 9 to 11 years 4x50m freestyle in 2.14.50 and the girls’ 13/u 4x50m medley in 2.23.98.

Megan Annis bagged victories in the girls’ 10 to 11 50m backstroke in 35.91 and 50m breaststroke in 41.87.

Patrick Heeks looked equally dominant in the boys’ event to triumph in 37.09.

Hannah Simister moved closer to a 2015 county qualifying time in the girls’ 13/u 100m breaststroke, winning in 1.31.53.

Despite a knee injury, Simon Sweatman won the boys’ 15/u 100m backstroke in 1.11.15, the 13/u 100m backstroke in 1.13.12 and the 13/u 100m freestyle in 1.05.20.

Alexandra Barry won the girls’ 10 to 11 50m butterfly in 36.17 with Heeks claiming the boys’ event in 37.88.

Naomi Marsden took maximum points in the girls’ 13/u 100m backstroke in 1.14.77.

Will Gearey triumphed in the boys’ 10/11 50m breaststroke in 40.03 and the 50m freestyle in 29.60.

Amy Cooper won the girls’ 13/u 100m butterfly in 1.20.23, while Jasmine Taite took the 15/u 100m freestyle in 1.07.73.

The girls’ 9 to 11 4x50m medley relay quartet of Annis, Jasmine Franks, Barry and Charlotte Downey won in an impressive 2.38.06.

Pershore’s boys’ 9/11 4x50m medley team of Heeks, Hamish Cross, Gearey and Kieran Cooper triumphed in 2.34.47.

The girls’ 13/u 4x50m freestyle team of Simister, Marsden, Cooper and Annis won in 2.12.68.
