CONFIDENT Pershore picked up their second Worcestershire Women’s League Division One win of the season.

They beat Stourport thirds 4-0 after pressing hard from the start and going ahead through Kate Adams from Kelly Jones’ powerful cross.

The visitors were kept out by a strong back four of Heidi Deacon, Sam Witherford, Emily Capaldi and Zoe Nicholson.

Player-of-the-match Nicki Sheppard created chances from midfield for third-from-bottom Pershore.

The game was halted for 15 minutes after the ball hit Dani Cook in the face.

But Pershore, who visit title-chasing Harborne thirds on Saturday, pushed on to run away with the game as Emma Gardner scored twice alongside another Adams effort.

The men’s firsts’ game at Droitwich in West Midlands Division One was abandoned after 16 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch. They host Old Wulfrunians on Saturday.

Pershore seconds won a Vale derby with Evesham 3-2 in West Midlands Division Two and visit Droitwich on Saturday.

Paul Grummitt (2) and Graham Handley scored with Ricky Dore and Andy Mabbett replying.

Pershore thirds beat Yardley seconds 5-2 to continue their unbeaten run despite falling behind.

Alex Brown, Andy Griffin and Dan Adams put them 3-1 ahead by half-time.

Adams and Toby Whiting completed the scoring despite a Yardley consolation.

Meanwhile, Bretforton are still struggling to find their feet in West Clubs Women’s League Premier Division ‘2A’.

They lost 5-0 at home to Chippenham and dropped to second from bottom in the table.

Player-of-the-match Amy Pinkney was tireless on the right wing and linked well with Danni Cox to cause problems.

Left-back Heather Carr suffered a nasty injury but Sophie Hamilton covered well.

No goals were conceded from short corners but Bret made life hard for themselves at times and lacked a slice of luck.

They have a tough trip to Hereford on Saturday.

Bret’s seconds won 5-1 at Cirencester thirds to move up to fourth in Severn Division Two as the rain did not dampen their enthusiasm.
