EVESHAM United boss Paul Collicutt will include new signing Ollie Knowles in his squad for Saturday’s trip to lowly Clevedon Town (3pm).

Knowles joined the Robins this week from Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division outfit Paulton Rovers and previously played at Weston-super-Mare.

Evesham have won their last five matches, including last Saturday’s impressive 2-1 victory at Larkhall Athletic.

The Robins are eighth in the table, just outside the Division One South and West play-offs.

Collicutt said: “I am delighted to have signed Ollie, who is a Hartpury lad and he can play anywhere across the back or across the midfield.

“He is a confident player when he’s on the ball and made a lot of appearances for Weston in Conference South.

“We signed Ollie on Tuesday and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game but Marcus Jackson is definitely missing with a calf problem.”

Collicutt is buoyed by Evesham’s run of form but was frustrated Tuesday’s fixture at Cinderford Town was postponed due to the Foresters’ problems with their water supply and floodlights.

“After five wins on the bounce and being unbeaten in six matches, we desperately wanted to keep the run going at Cinderford but we will now have to re-arrange that game for the new year,” said Collicutt.

“It’s important we don’t get too far ahead of ourselves. My aim is to focus on the next game against Clevedon and collect three points.

“I am not targeting anything because we still have 22 league matches remaining with 66 points on offer, so there’s a lot of football to be played.”

Collicutt arrived at the club in November 2013 after 12 years at Bishops Cleeve and is delighted to work with assistant Mark Boyland and coach Richard Smith.

He added: “When I first came to the club, we struggled to win at home but we have recently won three games at home in the space of a week and that had not been done for a long time.

“We recently went to Merthyr Town and not many people gave us a hope but we won the match.

“I don’t think Merthyr had lost a home match in the league for a couple of seasons.”

Evesham are also looking forward to a mouth-watering Boxing Day clash with title-chasing Stratford Town at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium (3pm).
