HEAD coach Paul James wants Worcester Wolves to come out of the blocks firing in tomorrow’s British Basketball League match at Durham Wildcats (4pm).

Wolves are bidding to bounce back after last Sunday’s disappointing 89-75 defeat at Cheshire Phoenix, which left their hopes of clinching the championship hanging by a thread.

But the Cheshire reverse was Worcester’s first league loss since December 19 and James is confident of a positive response.

It is also the first league meeting between the teams this term, although Wolves edged an 86-84 victory in the BBL Trophy last month at the Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.

Durham, who were due to visit league leaders Newcastle Eagles last night, are aiming to break into the top eight places, which would qualify them for the play-offs.

James said: “Last time we played Durham it was a tough game.

“Like Bristol, they are a very well coached, patient team and have got scorers all over the place.

“It’s a game where we’ve got to try to impose ourselves on them straight away, like we did against Bristol last Friday.

“If we do that we can make life easy for ourselves.

“They’re another team we have to respect and prepare well for and hopefully we can get two more points.

“It’s just one game this weekend so we don’t have to leave anything in reserve, we can play to our maximum and hopefully that will be enough to get the win.”

Meanwhile, James says there are no plans to replace Remi Dibo before the February 28 transfer deadline after the French forward quit the club.

The Wolves chief said: “If we found someone who was going to come in and make a significant difference then we’d look at it but at this point in time I think the team is pretty settled.

“It’s not like we were playing Remi for 15 or 25 minutes a game so we can fill that void no problem.”
