EVESHAM’S Casarena Ferreira will represent Herefordshire and Worcestershire in the English Schools’ Athletic Association National Cross Country Championships.

The Prince Henry’s High School pupil heads to Blackburn, Lancashire, on Saturday, March 14, after winning her category in the two counties’ competition at Hereford Racecourse.

Ferreira made an impressive start and clinched victory in the junior girls’ race following a sprint finish.

As part of her winter training, she also competed in the Midland Cross Country Championships while representing Halesowen Athletic Club and guided her team to the under 15s girls’ title.

Ferreira’s Evesham Vale Triathletes coach Richard Goode has played a big role in helping her to achieve recent podium positions.
