BRETFORTON crashed 5-0 at Newent in a rearranged West Clubs Women’s League Premier Division ‘2A’ fixture.
Their game fell apart when the fourth-placed hosts scored early on, and relentless pressure led to three more goals before half-time.
With a squad of just 11, bottom-of-the-table Bret put in a tremendous second-half effort and restricted Newent to a sloppy fifth goal.
The visitors created chances and forced short corners but could not score, while defender Heather Carr was player-of-the-match. Bret visit unbeaten Team Bath Buccaneers seconds on Saturday.
Bret seconds drew 1-1 with local rivals Chipping Campden in Severn Division Two.
They showed improvement after a convincing beating earlier in the season and played positive hockey.
The Campden keeper denied Ness Dufty early on but Campden then pressed well and broke the deadlock from a swift break.
Bret’s Molly Ricketts had another fine game in goal.
They had renewed vigour in the second-half and Andrea Cole levelled with a thunderous strike after Lucy Cole’s shot from a Molly Stock pass was parried. Hannah Dufty and Jemima Hutchison were joint players-of-the-match.
