Glasgow belonged to Sir Michael Parkinson last night when he spoke about his life and career in front of an audience of 1200.
He delivered anecdotes in his typical style when he talked about his childhood, his 40-year career as a chat-show host and the state of the TV industry today.
He held up Orson Welles, Muhammad Ali, Billy Connolly and Nelson Mandela as the most impressive people he interviewed.
Of Billy, he said: "I saw something remarkable in him. He was the only person who could increase the audience by two million."
