EVESHAM United will turn to reserve team keeper Josh Goddard for tomorrow’s final match of the regular season at Bridgwater Town (3pm).

The 19-year-old has been called on because Kevin Sawyer has a back injury and Jonathan Skeen, who played in last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Tiverton Town, has a thigh problem.

Sawyer is not fully fit and manager Paul Collicutt does not want to risk him ahead of Tuesday’s Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West play-off semi-final against either Taunton Town or Larkhall Athletic.

Evesham are third in the table but can still finish second, which would give them home advantage should they reach the play-off final.

To achieve that, the Robins, who have won their last nine matches, need to better Stratford Town’s result at champions Merthyr.

Collicutt said: “Yes, we want to finish second if we can but if you had offered me third spot at the start of the season I would have taken it big time. We have surpassed what I thought we would do this season.

“Stratford have got Merthyr so have their work cut out and Merthyr will be presented with the trophy afterwards but you can’t take anything for granted.

“All I am concerned about is ourselves and going to Bridgwater and hopefully coming away with something.

“The big thing for me is to come out of the game unscathed. If we can keep the run going it will stand us in good stead. It’s better going into the play-offs on the back of a good run.”

Bridgwater are 12th but, along with Evesham, have the distinction of having won at Merthyr earlier in the season.
