EVESHAM ‘A’ broke their run of draws to win 3-1 at local rivals Littletons ‘A’ in the Wildmoor Spa Men’s Tennis League Premier Division.

They moved up to second place with 18 points and three behind leaders Stratford ‘A’, who were held to a 2-2 draw at Henley-in-Arden ‘A’.

Evesham’s Chris Francis and Andy Crowther beat Littleton’s Richard Herborn and Dave Rudge 6-2, 7-5 and Jack Philpott and Nick Murphy 7-5, 6-2.

Simon Wall and Paul Everett defeated Philpott and Murphy 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-5) after a close third-set tie-break, but lost to Herborn & Rudge 7-5, 0-6, 1-0 (10-7) in another tight rubber.

Moreton-in-Marsh ‘A’ maintained their lead at the top of Division One after a 3-1 win over sixth-placed Inkberrow ‘A’ moved them up to 21 points. However, Pershore ‘A’ stepped a point closer on 18 in second position, after they beat Whitnash ‘A’ 4-0.

In Division Two, HDA Redditch ‘A’ doubled their lead to two points at the top with a 4-0 victory at FISSC of Stratford.

Ardencote Manor ‘B’ in second could only manage a 3-1 home victory over Chipping Campden ‘A’ and Alcester remained third, after their 3-1 win over bottom team Shipston-on-Stour ‘A’.

Stratford ‘B’ consolidated fourth position by beating fifth-placed Inkberrow ‘B’ 3-1.

Division Three leaders Snitterfield ‘B’ were held to a 2-2 draw by Chipping Campden ‘B’ in sixth.

Studley ‘C’ closed up on the top two on 18 points following a 3-1 win over fifth-placed Ilmington.

In Division Four, the top two of HDA ‘B’ and Claverdon ‘C’ shared a 2-2 draw with the Redditch side retaining their lead by two points.

Inkberrow ‘C’ went up to second with a 4-0 win over Littletons ‘B’ and Pershore ‘B’ remained fourth after a 2-2 draw with Bidford-on-Avon ‘A’.

Moreton-in-Marsh ‘B’ celebrated a 4-0 win over bottom side Chipping Campden ‘C’.

Division Five leaders Warwick had their lead cut to one point as nearest challengers HDA ‘C’ claimed a 4-0 victory at lowly Evesham ‘B’.

Warwick could only manage a 3-1 win over Bidford ‘B’ and Moreton-in-Marsh ‘C’ drew 2-2 with Wildmoor Spa ‘B’.

Bottom-of-the-table Shipston-on-Stour ‘B’ managed a 2-2 draw at home to sixth-placed Inkberrow ‘D’.
