PERSHORE remain in a strong position at the top of the Worcestershire League Division One table after victory against Colwall.

They recorded a 13th straight win at home to Colwall, with Sam Cross scoring 93 for the title favourites.

Nomads beat Hagley to maintain the gap and Droitwich remain third after winning a slightly reduced match at Bromyard, who are looking downwards and need a reversal of fortunes quickly to survive this year.

Bewdley are fourth following a comfortable home win over Belbroughton.

In the relegation battles, Burghill look to have sealed safety with a win over Redditch and they have jumped up to sixth following another win in a much better second-half for them.

Pedmore won for the first time for quite a while and sent Oldswinford to the foot of the table in doing so.

Oldswinford now trail Pedmore by seven points and Bromyard are 17 ahead of Pedmore and three behind Redditch in ninth.

In Division Two, Bredon lost their second successive match, to make the section much tighter once again, as they tumbled to defeat by 25 runs with four overs left at Evesham for whom Ali Asghar made 112.

Cookley’s Jaimen Rudd, 110 and Jon Stanaway, 97, took full advantage as they beat Lye and are now just five points behind the leaders.

Stourport powered back to form and had Kevin Renecke’s 204 not out at Malvern to thank for a big win to keep them 16 points back from Cookley, awaiting a slip from either of the top two. Worcester Dominies recorded a win over Wormelow.

Alvechurch slipped up for just the second time this year, losing heavily at Avoncroft and have surrendered their lead at the top of Division Three to Himbleton, who beatRoss.

Himbleton now lead Chaddesley by two points and Chaddesley are a solitary point in front of Alvechurch.

Over-rates and various other technical details need to be carefully attended to by these three teams contesting the two promotion spots.

Bartestree, in fourth, were unable to close the gap as they slumped to defeat at Cleobury Mortimer and Netherton closed in on them after they won against Old Vigornians.

Rushwick won by four wickets at home to Claverley with James Saunders scoring 112.

Kempsey won the top of the table clash at Newland over Barnards Green in Division Four with both sides missing some players.

Bromsgrove have managed to get in between these two by thrashing Halesowen.

Kidderminster are fourth but missed out on their own chance to overtake Barnards Green as they lost a run-feast at Winterfold by seven runs to Himley.

In other matches, Fiveways beat Oldswinford thanks to 108 scored by Dave Potter, Martley beat Hanley and Old Hill won the bottom of the table clash with Harvington.

Kempsey host Bromsgrove in a vital match next week and will be hoping to defend their 20 points cushion.
