WORCESTER Wolves must end their London Lions hoodoo tomorrow (Friday) if they are to advance to the last four of the British Basketball League Cup (7.30pm).

Lions have won the last four meetings between the teams, eliminating Wolves from last season’s league play-offs at the quarter-final stage.

Paul James’ Wolves side go into the cup quarter-final clash at the University of Worcester Arena in fine form, having won six of their seven games this season, including a gutsy 90-87 defeat of Sheffield Sharks.

However, Lions have struggled for consistency following back-to-back wins with a home 90-82 reverse against Manchester Giants last Thursday.

Wolves have not reached the BBL Cup semi-finals since the 2011-12 season, while Lions have not been to the last four since 2009-10.

Wolves forward Ben Eaves: “Playing together has been key for us.

“The coach (Paul James) has been on to us since the beginning about what we can do for the next person, so that sets a selfless tone, which is important.

“I think each time we have played we've accomplished something in order to grow as a unit.

“Our job is to keep climbing and improve in all areas but ,as long as we stick together, I'm sure we can continue to do that.

“London have a talented group and like anybody else in the league they can be dangerous, but we try to focus on us and do what we need to do.

"I think a sense of urgency is always there in these games because advancing or not rests on that one game, but that makes it fun.”

London Lions forward Kai Williams: "We have learned a ton from our most recent game against Manchester.

“There are a few things that we need to sort out on both ends of the floor to ensure that we will perform the way that we are capable of going forward.

“Since we have so many new players we need to become a more cohesive unit and that was made very clear in our recent loss.

"This week has been a great week of practice for us and we have been able to watch some film so we are confident going into our Cup match against Worcester this weekend.”

Williams added: "I think everyone plays with a little more sense of urgency in these cup games.

"We want to advance and bring some silverware to London so our guys will be focused for this match-up."
