EVESHAM United will have their work cut out against Spennymoor Town in today’s FA Trophy tie at the Jubilee Stadium (3pm), admits manager Paul Collicutt.

The County Durham outfit won the FA Vase at Wembley Stadium in May 2013 and will be backed by two coach-loads of supporters laid on free-of-charge by the club.

Spennymoor are fourth in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Collicutt said: “Spennymoor’s chairman Brad Groves is paying for their supporters to travel to Evesham and it’s a fantastic gesture by their club.

“I believe they are bringing two supporters’ coaches so it should be a good game and a good atmosphere.

“We had more than 300 people for our win against Redditch United in the last round and 773 watched Spennymoor draw 2-2 with Glossop North End last Saturday.

“People from the north-east are passionate about football and I hope people from Evesham come out and support us. Spennymoor are on a good run. I expect it to be a very difficult game for us.”

Spennymoor thrashed Goole 6-3 in the previous round, while Nick Stanley’s superb strike sealed Evesham a 1-0 success against county rivals Redditch.

Colicutt added “The prospect of a replay in the north-east on a Tuesday night fills me with concern because it would be a 420-mile round-trip for us.

“If we’re level with 20 minutes remaining, we might have to try something different.

“We will be doing our best to win the game from the start but I will be biting my nails if it looks like heading for a replay.”

With Evesham’s trip to North Leigh called off last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch, Collicutt watched Bishops Cleeve win 2-0 against Wantage Town.
