MANAGER Paul Collicutt is confident Evesham United are in the “right frame of mind” to put an unpredictable Wimborne Town side to the sword tomorrow (3pm).

The Robins will make the long journey to Dorset to take on Wimborne high in confidence after trouncing 19th-placed Bridgwater Town 5-0 last Saturday.

Although they are only one place above Bridgwater in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West, Collicutt admitted Wimborne were a totally different proposition as they are one of the league’s highest scorers with 48 goals in 25 games.

However, the Magpies are vulnerable at the back, having conceded 59 goals, and the Evesham boss said his players were ready for whatever Wimborne threw at them.

“Wimborne are certainly a side who score a few and concede a few,” he said.

“I believe there was a game not too long ago which they lost 6-5, so you don’t know what to expect from them. We’ll see what happens.

“It is never an easy place to go as the pitch is on a bit of a slope but we are in the right frame of mind for the game.”

Evesham will be without skipper and centre-half Matt Sysum and midfielder Clayton Green through suspension, while defender Liam Harding has been ruled out with a quad injury.

But midfielder Ashley Williams returns to the fray after serving his ban.

Collicutt believes he has a strikeforce in scintillating form after Lance Smith replaced fellow forward Adam Mann at the top of the club’s scoring charts with four goals against Bridgwater.

“Lance has been threatening to do that for a few games this season,” Collicutt said.

“He has already scored one hat-trick earlier in the season and when we went to Winchester the other week he had quite a few chances down there.

“I’d be worried if he wasn’t getting the chances but he is certainly having his opportunities so, with him and Adam both scoring at the minute, we are are a threat to any side in our league, that’s for sure. So fingers crossed they both score against Wimborne.”
