EVESHAM United manager Paul Collicutt says he would love to get one over his former club Bishops Cleeve tomorrow night (7.45pm).

But Collicutt admitted he would be “very surprised” if the match did not fall victim to the weather.

Cleeve have not played a home game since December 5 due to a waterlogged Kayte Lane pitch and the Robins boss said he was bracing himself for another postponement.

“We are aware of the situation down there, so I would be very surprised to see the game on,” said Collicutt, whose side’s Southern League Division One South and West home clash against Bashley was called off on Saturday.

“Cleeve haven’t played at home for a long time and the forecast is pretty miserable for the rest of the week, so it is not looking promising at all.

“It’s difficult for the club, the players, the supporters and for everybody involved. It is very stop-start at the minute.”

If the match does go ahead, it would be the third time Collicutt has visited his former club with the Robins since his tenure of more than a decade came to an end in 2011.

“I was there for 12 years, so I have got a lot of fond memories,” he said.

“I know their manager (Stephen Cleal) very well as he played for me and I know quite a few of the supporters.

“It probably means more to me as we are playing against my old team but at this time of the season the players know we have got to pick up wins.”

Forward Lance Smith is suspended, while midfielder Nick Stanley looks set to be ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Collicutt said defender Liam Harding was likely to face another few weeks on the sidelines.

“Liam was out for two weeks. He then trained last Tuesday and broke down,” Collicutt said.

“The way the physio is talking at the minute it is looking like another two or three weeks at least.

“Unfortunately, Liam’s season has not really got off yet as he has picked up about four or five injuries, which is difficult for him as he wants the team to do well.”
