HEAD coach Paul James wants to see “energy”, “fight” and “commitment” from his players as Worcester Wolves seek revenge against Plymouth Raiders tonight (7.30pm).

Third-placed Wolves slumped to a 101-91 defeat the last time the teams met at the University of Worcester Arena in November.

But James insisted they have come a long way since then, as Worcester look to further cement their place in the British Basketball League’s top four.

“We beat them away and then a few days later they beat us here, but that is a long time ago now,” said James, whose side lost 81-75 at Newcastle Eagles last Friday.

“My focus now is to make sure everyone understands their role and the energy levels are there, so we are playing with the intensity which is going to get us success.

“We went a long way to showing that we can do that against Newcastle last weekend, albeit not getting the win.

“But if we can come back here, in front of our home crowd, then I am sure we can show that same energy, fight and commitment to come away with a win.”

Wolves have not played at home since defeating Manchester Giants on February 19.

James said he was relishing the prospect of having a big crowd behind them when they take on seventh-placed Plymouth, who have won four out of their last five league games.

“It does seem like a while since we last played at home,” he said.

“Plymouth are a team who have made lots of changes this season but they have lots of good wins under their belt.

“We want to improve the performance we had against Newcastle and, if we can reach those heights, there is no reason why we could not be victorious against Plymouth.”

American point guard Jordan Aaron is set to make his first appearance at the arena since joining the club earlier this month.

“I am sure Jordan is excited and he will get a nice Wolfpack reception from everybody,” James added.

“He is a much better player than he showed against Newcastle but that’s part of the learning curve and I am sure he is going to play better in front of our home crowd.”
