HEAD coach Paul James says team player and scoring threat Jordan Aaron has provided a “double bonus” for Worcester Wolves.

And he is confident the “livewire” point guard will keep getting better as he continues to find his feet in the British Basketball League.

Since arriving at the club earlier this month, Aaron has inspired Wolves to victories over Leeds Force and Plymouth Raiders with 23 and 17 points respectively.

But James admitted it was the 23-year-old’s ability to put his teammates first that had caught his eye.

“When he got here, he was about six months behind everybody else in what we were trying to do,” he said.

“So it was always going to be difficult for him, especially as he is trying to run the team, but he keeps learning.

“He is becoming more vocal with his teammates as they are getting to know him and he is getting to know them.

“But he hasn’t tried to come in and take over as he has tried to fit in to what we do and maybe not been aggressive enough on offence.

“But I like that attitude about him as he is looking for his teammates first and foremost and trying to organise the team better.

“We seem to have a lot more control when he is out there. He can also score as well, so he is a double bonus for the team.”

James admitted Aaron had also shown areas he needs to improve as he failed to get a point on the board against Newcastle Eagles.

But the coach said he was delighted to see him become a hit with Wolves fans having made his first home appearance against Plymouth.

“Jordan is a player who is still adjusting to life here but he is certainly a livewire,” James added.

“He is a bit different to what we already have in the team and people will look at him and think, ‘Wow, he is tiny and he is out there with all those big boys’.

“But he is very effective as well, so I think people have really taken him into their hearts.

“He is a talented player, without question, and hopefully he will just keep developing as he has been doing and can lead us to some good things at the end of the season.”
