EVESHAM United manager Paul Collicutt is refusing to take tonight’s game against bottom-of-the-table Wantage Town lightly (7.45pm) as he is aware how his opposition “enjoy making life difficult” for away teams.

Describing the match in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West as a “potential banana skin”, Collicutt is still feeling confident his men will be able to “produce the right result when it matters”.

With Evesham looking to improve on last year’s sixth-placed finish, the Robins manager is looking to pick up “as many wins as possible” in the early stages of the season.

The team are focusing entirely on the clash against Wantage despite the temptation to begin planning for Saturday’s FA Cup preliminary round match at Market Drayton Town.

Manager Collicutt believes the cup is “the best competition in the world for football” but reiterated his main aim of continuing the good form shown in last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Wimborne Town.

Winger Carl Brown will not be available to play tonight due to work commitments, but manager Collicutt is hopeful forward Sam Pearson will be back in the fold and ready to help the team get the win in Oxfordshire.
