MANAGER Paul Collicutt says Evesham United will revel in their underdog status as they aim to “spring a surprise” in the Emirates FA Cup tomorrow (3pm).

The Robins face Northern League Premier Division outfit Barwell in the first qualifying round at the Jubilee Stadium.

Collicutt, who will be boosted by the return of striker Lance Smith, has backed his lower-ranked side to cause an upset.

“Barwell are from a higher division so they will be a strong team and I have had good reports about them,” he said.

“We will go into the game as underdogs but that suits us and with it being the FA Cup as well it makes it all very interesting.

“The lads are all looking forward to it, so hopefully we can spring a surprise.”

Evesham will be without midfielders Lorcan Sheehan, who is away, and Nick Stanley, who begins a suspension.

He was red carded in last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Bideford in Southern League Division One South and West before the Robins lost 2-0 at Shortwood on Monday.

Collicutt added: “Playing at home helps, so hopefully we can get the supporters behind us.

“It is a big game for everybody connected with the club, so it would be nice to go and beat Barwell.”

Other cup fixtures tomorrow see Hereford FC head to Romulus, Westfields host St Ives Town and Redditch United go to Coalville Town (all 3pm).
